I guess this is Hello?

A lot has happened over the past two weeks for me. They have been very busy as well. Today was my first day "off" from school events, yet I still have managed to have my day packed with things to be doing....

I warn you all in my last post, it may be a while until I post again since I would be so busy. It turns out I am indeed very busy here, between school work, social life, and just relaxation. But right now I have a good 45 minutes before I need to log off so I figured I would try to do a brief brief update on what is happening in my life right now.

Let's start with this: I am officially moved in and have started class at Arizona State University!

I absolutely love it here, it feels like I am on a cruise ship. I use work out equipment with televisions attached to them, I have the option to eat pita and hummus every day, I get to hangout on a rooftop pool, I actually have A/C in my bedroom, and more!

I have class Monday through Thursday and am always done by 1:15 p.m. meaning weekend starts at 1:20 p.m. on Thursday! I am already overwhelmed by the amount of work I have to do (7 math assignments due on Friday, and I haven't even had my first math class yet!) but I know I will get the hang of it and learn how to budget out my time. This semester I am taking the following classes: math, sociology, grammar for journalists, intro to journalism, French and a class on the history of ASU.

I have made so so so many friends, it's actually crazy. Each one of them so much more different than the other. I can feel myself growing a little family here. It feels like I've known these people all my life! And with the friends I've made on my floor, since the dorm is divided by major, it's nice to share the same interest and careers goals as each other. My friends and I have all made many memories together, planned trips, and had many laughs. They also find the way I talk quite amusing also, who knew Minnesotans had an accent?

Lastly, my dorm room doesn't feel like a dorm room at all but more like a mini home, it's so cozy and it feels like a space of my own, rather than my stuff in a random place. I consider my dorm my home. So please, enjoy some photos of it below!

I am missing Minnesota and my friends and family so dearly, but in the healthy way, I am proud to say I haven't started feeling homesick yet.

I promise you all a more detailed post later, but I must go, my roommate and I are hosting people in our room for a VMA viewing party! Ah how I love college......

The Final Countdown

8:11 AM Unknown 1 Comments

Six days left. I can nearly fit my countdown on one hand now. Crazy.

I've slowly been mentioning my time left in Minnesota throughout the summer, but now that it's actually here? I'm kind of freaking out. A good freak out, a very good one. I've come to the point where I've dealt with the doubts, the sadness, the "I don't want to go-s", and the tears. It appears that I have moved on to a great deal of stress now, and the panic of "will my stuff arrive in time?", in addition to "Holy shit. This is happening. And I can't wait." I'm finally excited, FINALLY. I'm so excited that while I don't want to rush my last precious days here in the Midwest, I can't help but want August 14th to come sooner.

It's weird though, leaving home for five months. . . You don't necessarily realize how many things you will be leaving without knowing when you will last have them again. For me, I keep thinking about Aldi's, thrift stores, Mrs. Meyer's cleaning products, Nurture scrub, the silverware in my household and Maggie's dog hair attached to every outfit. I get sad thinking about these little details that I will miss more than I think, but I repeatedly remind myself of all of the new things I will see and buy and experience that may not be something we have back home. I'm excited to share the culture of a new home with my "home back home".

Last night, we packed up the majority of my belongings to send down to Arizona to greet me when I arrive. In the process of packing it, I had realized that while I may have a summer wardrobe appropriate for Minnesota, I do not own enough to last me for the long, hot, heat of the Southwest. I found myself packing long pants and sweatshirts anyways because I couldn't bare deal with their cries of being left home. It's very difficult trying to grasp the weather change. And packing to live there for the next year is much more difficult than packing for a vacation. I can't help myself from thinking about packing sweaters and scarves for the "winter", even though we all know I really won't be needing any of it. After packing up (most of) my stuff, I got kind of sad looking around and seeing my closet so bare and my bed missing it's signature white duvet and instead replaced with an orange floral one. The white-everything-room had been broken. Good things come from this though. For example, I'm about to have the cutest dorm room you ever did see, so keep an eye out for that! As for now, enjoy this picture of me drowning amongst my life stored into boxes.

The rest of my days here in Minnesota are quite packed, between farewell dinners, saying goodbye to friends, applying for a passport, and last minute errands. On Thursday, August 14th, my mother, grandmother, and I will fly down to Phoenix to meet up with Aunty N where we will buy all the remainders of my items before move-in day on August 16th. Afterwards, only three of the four ladies will be returning back to their homes.

That being said, please bear with me with I am Audacious, I'm not sure how busy I will be these next few weeks. But don't worry, I will be sure to update you all on the changes in my life and college as soon as I can!

Bon Voyage!
